About

ArzenLabs is an engineering firm, run like one.

We work on cloud infrastructure, backend systems, Anycast networking, and applied AI for teams that need a partner who can be handed a production incident and a system design review in the same week. We keep engagements small enough that the people who scope the work are the people who do it.

Operating principles

Four rules that don't change per client.

Legibility over clevernessP-01

A system that only its author can operate is a liability, not an asset. We optimize for the engineer who inherits this in two years without us in the room.

Written scope, not verbal promisesP-02

Every engagement starts with a document that states what we're building, what we're not, and how we'll know it's done.

We operate what we buildP-03

Wherever possible, we stay on-call for what we ship through its first real incident. It changes how you design the second system.

Say no to the wrong toolP-04

Applied AI, a new database, a rewrite — we recommend these when the problem calls for them, and we say so plainly when it doesn't.

How we take on work

We take on a small number of engagements at a time.

That's a constraint, not a marketing line: the engineers who talk to you during scoping are the same ones who write the code and carry the pager afterward. If that doesn't fit your timeline or budget, we'll tell you early rather than after a signed contract.
